Experimental T2 bayonet made by Hotpoint. Marked for test group A and dated 1944. Fullered blade version. MINT. The T2 bayonet experiment was to create a new bayonet for the M1 Garand that could be made from flat stock with minimal machining to produce a less expensive bayonet that could be manufactured more quickly. The program was abandoned in 1944 when it was clear the War would be over shortly so current production of the M1 bayonet was more than sufficient.
